Company History

Steel Stitch™ Corporation was founded in 1988 by Mack Fisher who was soon joined by his two sons, Larry and West and his wife Anne. After seeing European fabric awnings being made with stapled covers, Mack saw the many advantages of this method and how it might be applied to the awning designs that were at the time unique to American architecture. He set Steel Stitch™ on a course to develop the best and most versatile staple-in system that could be used in building virtually any shape or size awning with any awning fabric and to do so with speed and efficiency previously unheard of in the industry. Steel Stitch™ developed fabrication techniques for using these products and trained hundreds of awning companies on the system.

Today, most awnings built in the U.S. are built with these methods. While there are now other similar products in the marketplace, Steel Stitch™ continues to be a major factor in the business in no small part thanks to our long time distributor and leading supplier to the industry, Trivantage. Steel Stitch™ is conveniently available throughout the country from Trivantage’s twelve stocking warehouses located across the U.S. and Steel Stitch’s own 40,000 sq. ft. facility in Ball Ground Georgia.
After the passing of their father in 2010, West and Larry Fisher took over the business. Having been with the business throughout its 28 year history, they have a great deal of product and industry knowledge. But more importantly, they understand the most important ingredient to Steel Stitch’s success is its loyal customers who recognize and appreciate the quality of Steel Stitch™ products and service. West, Larry and all of the Steel Stitch™ employees remain dedicated to not only maintaining those standards, but to making continual improvements so that you can continue to make FASTER, EASIER, BETTER AWNINGS.

Steel Stitch™ Corporation has been an innovator in the Staple-In Fabric Awning Industry since 1988. We were instrumental in the introduction of the process in the United States and have maintained with great pride our reputation as the most dependable, knowledgeable and progressive supplier to the industry. Our Manufacturing Division is active in the design, manufacture and installation of commercial, institutional and residential projects day-in and day-out. This first-hand contact with architects, general contractors & end-users allows us to maintain our product designs and monitor current industry needs. From this vital knowledge of the fabric structure industry we’ve been able to develop the products that manufacturers value.
